今日のトピックは、日本のカレーです。
みなさん、日本のカレーを食べたことがありますか？このカレーは、インドカレーやネパールカレーとはちょっと違うんです。
カレーは、もともとインドの料理ですが、昔、インドはイギリスの植民地（a colony）でしたから、イギリス人はよくインドのカレーをイギリスへ持って帰っていました。それから、イギリスの人もよくカレーを食べるようになったんですね。
その後、カレーはイギリスから日本へ伝えられました。今からちょうど200年くらい前です。当時（in those days）は、カレーのような外国の料理はすごく高かったので、お金持ちしか食べられない、お金持ちの料理でした。
それから50年後、日本のとある会社が「カレー粉」（curry powder）を初めて開発しました。（invent: 発明する、開発する）
カレーは家でも簡単に作れるようになって、カレーだけじゃなくて、カレーうどん、カレーそば、カレーパンなどができました。
それから、やっと（finally）インドから日本へインドカレーが伝わって、日本人はインドカレーも食べるようになったんです。
おもしろいですよね。

カレーを家で作る時は、だいたい「カレールー」というものを使います。（カレールウって、英語？）
カレールーには、小麦粉（flour）スパイス、バター、色々な野菜のパウダーなどが入っていて、インドカレーの味とは全然違います。
カレーにはいつも、お肉と、じゃがいも（potato）、にんじん（carrot）、たまねぎ（onion）を入れます。
野菜は大きいほうがおいしいと思います。
一番甘いカレーは「甘口」、ちょっと辛いカレーは「中辛」そして一番辛いカレーを「辛口」もっともっと辛いカレーは「激辛」といいます。
日本人はみんなカレーが大好きです。インドカレーも、ネパールカレーも、インドネシアカレーも、そして日本のカレーも。
私が一番好きなカレーは、ネパール風の、チキンティカマサラカレーです。😂
あと、チキンバターカレーも好きです。ビーガンのカレーもおいしいですね。
あ、日本のカレー？もちろん好きですよ。でもネパールのカレーは家で簡単に作れないから、ちょっと特別ですね。

Today’s topic is Japanese curry. Have you ever eaten Japanese curry? This curry is a little different from Indian curry and Nepalese curry.
Curry was originally an Indian dish, but in the olden days India was a colony of England, so British people often brought Indian curry back to England. Since then, British people have come to eat curry a lot. After that, the curry was passed from England to Japan. It’s about 200 years ago. At that time (in those days), foreign food such as curry was so expensive that it was a rich food that only the rich could eat. Fifty years later, a Japanese company developed the first “curry powder”. (Invent: invent, develop) Curry has become easier to make at home, and not only curry, but also curry udon, curry soba, and curry bread have been made. After that, Indian curry was finally (finally) transmitted from India to Japan, and Japanese people started to eat Indian curry as well. It’s interesting, isn’t it?

When making curry at home, I usually use something called “curry roux”. (Is curry roux in English?) Curry roux contains flour spices, butter, and various vegetable powders, which is completely different from the taste of Indian curry. I always add meat, potatoes (potato), carrots (carrot) and onions (onion) to the curry. I think the bigger the vegetables, the better. The sweetest curry is called “sweet”, the slightly spicy curry is called “medium spicy”, the spicy curry is called “dry”, and the spicy curry is called “super spicy”.
All Japanese love curry. Indian curry, Nepalese curry, Indonesian curry, and Japanese curry.
My favorite curry is the Nepalese-style chicken tikka masala curry. 😂 I also like chicken butter curry. The vegan curry is also delicious. Oh, Japanese curry? Of course I like it. But Nepalese curry is a little special because it’s not easy to make at home.
