「日本のアニメを見ていると、よく高校生がアルバイトをしているシーンがあります。日本では、本当に高校生がアルバイトをしているんですか？」と・・・。

When I watch Japanese anime, I often see that some high school students working part-time job. Do students really work part-time in Japan?

でも私が高校生の時、アルバイトは禁止されていませんでしたから、私はよくアルバイトをしていましたよ。めっちゃ楽しかったです。
高校生はだいたい部活で忙しいんですが、私は部活に入っていなかったので、すごく暇でした。時間がたくさんあったんです。
部活：club (sports, music …)

勉強した方がよかったのかもしれませんが、私はアルバイトばかりしていました。笑

しかも、色々なバイトを経験しましたよ。

初めてのバイトは、うどん屋さんでした。うどんのレストラン。理由は家から近かったから。
仕事は１週間に3日〜4日くらいして、週末はたまに朝から夜まで働くこともありました！
楽しかったけど、大変でしたね。
仕事の内容は、注文を受けたりうどんを運んだり、あとはレジを打ったりしました。

注文を受ける：to receive an order
うどんを運ぶ：to carry udon
レジを打つ：to ring up, to get the check
レジ（= cash register）
これはね、時給で800円くらいだったかな。時給、わかりますか？時給は、１時間でもらえるお金です。（hourly pay）
15年くらい前だけど、その時の東京の時給は800〜900円くらいでしたね。今の東京の時給は、たぶん900〜1000円くらいだと思います。
もちろん、田舎はもっと安いと思います。
それから、うどん屋さんだけじゃなくて、神社でおまもりを売るバイトもしました。
あとは、海で友達とキャンペーンガールをしたり、イタリアンレストランで働いたりもしました。楽しかったですよ。
日本では、高校生がバイトをするのは普通だと思います。みなさんの国ではどうですか？
バイトをする理由は色々あると思います。There are several reasons why students work.
家族にお金がないから、という理由もあると思うし、ただ私みたいに暇だから、という理由もあります。あとは、バイトをしている時は「大人になった」という気分も味わえます。
When you work part-time, you can feel like you are 大人！( you’ve grown up). だからバイトが楽しくて、毎日バイトに行く人もいますね。もちろん、テストの前にはあまりバイトできませんが・・・。
