Is it different, or a bit similar?

Things not to do in Japan

It is better not to hug or kiss to when you meet someone for the first time.

It is better not to talk on the phone in a train or in a bus.

You must not pass food from person to another using the chopsticks directly.

It is fine to pass the food to another person’s plate using chopsticks、でも、はしを使って、はしでご飯をあげて、はしでもらう、というのは、してはいけません。

You can’t pass the food from chopsticks to chopsticks, directly.

We do this thing, when somebody died.

Once the body is cremated in funeral, we use chopsticks to pass the bone fragments to each other and we put them in a pod, as in the ritual.

It is better not to blow your nose loudly in front of other people.

For example, if you blow your nose when you talk to your friends at the restaurant, maybe your friends would think it is rude.

Maybe you should blow your nose with a tiny noise and also you should look back not to show what you are doing.

________

Today’s theme is what you shouldn’t do in Japan.

Have you ever been to Japan? Japanese manners and foreign manners are sometimes completely different. Is your country different from Japan? Or is it a bit similar?

It’s better not to do it in Japan. Things not to do in Japan

First, it’s best not to hug or kiss someone you meet for the first time. Well, even if you’re not the first person to meet, Japanese people don’t usually hug or kiss with friends or family. You can hug from time to time, but if a man and a woman who are not a couple hug you, you may be a little surprised.

Second, it is better not to call on the train or bus. When I lived in Europe, I saw people calling from time to time on trains and buses. But in Japan, I think it’s better not to do that. Maybe if you call on the train, everyone will see it.

Third, don’t give food “with chopsticks” to others. You must not pass food from person to another using the chopsticks directly. Do you understand? It is OK to eat rice with chopsticks. It’s okay to use chopsticks to put rice on someone else’s plate. It is fine to pass the food to another person ’s plate using chopsticks, but you shouldn’t use chopsticks to serve rice with chopsticks and have them chopsticks. You ca n’t pass the food from chopsticks to chopsticks, directly. Only do this when someone dies in Japan. We do this thing, when somebody died. After cremation at the funeral, the bones of the deceased are put into a jar with a chopstick. Once the body is cremated in funeral, we use chopsticks to pass the bone fragments to each other and we put them in a pod, as in the ritual.

Fourth, it is better not to blow your nose loudly in front of other people. In Japan, for example, when talking to a friend at a restaurant, if you blow your nose, you will feel a little rude. For example, if you blow your nose when you talk to your friends at the restaurant, maybe your friends would think it is rude. But I often blow my nose. When you blow your nose, it’s better to make a soft noise and then turn to the back.

Well, there are many other things, but after coming to Japan, let’s experience and learn a lot. 😂

I wish you a good day today. I will see you around!
