新年:new year, 挨拶:greeting

The old year ends, the new year begins! This is called "明ける" in Japanese.

Therefore, the word "明ける" means that “something ends and something good is beginning.”

親しい人:close friends, closed people

亡くなる:to pass away

By the way, it's not good to say "明けましておめでとう" if your family member or close friend has passed away in the previous year.

Today I'm going to talk about "New Year's Greetings".

New Year: new year, greeting: greeting

Do you know what the New Year's greeting is in Japan?

Yes, you do. It's "Akemashite omedegan gozaimasu.

But what does "Happy New Year" ・・・・ mean?

Congratulations is easy, isn't it? Happy birthday! It's easy to say, "Happy birthday!

So what does "dawn greeting" mean?

In Japan, the old year ends and the new year begins! The old year ends, the new year begins.

It's not the same as "opening the door"!

This is called "dawn" in Japanese.

The year will dawn. = The old year ends and the new year begins.

There is also a way to say "the night will dawn. This means that the night is over and a bright morning will begin! The rainy season is over.

So, what do you think "the rainy season will end" means?

Rainy season

This means, "The rainy season is over, and the good season begins! This means "the rainy season is over and a good season is beginning!

Season: season

Therefore, the word "dawn" means the end of something and the beginning of something good.

By the way, it's not a good idea to say "Happy New Year" if a family member or someone close to you has passed away in the previous year.

Close people: close friends, closed people

To pass away: to pass away

It's old Japanese etiquette, but it's good to know!
